4 Health Benefits of Cranberry Juice

  • May Prevent Urinary Tract Infections: Cranberries contain antioxidants called proanthocyanidins, which prevent bacteria like Escherichia coli from clinging to the cells that line the bladder, thus reducing infection risk.

  • May Reduce Ulcer Risk: Over half the world's population is infected with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a type of bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers and increase risk of developing stomach cancer.

  • May Help Protect Against Heart Disease: Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S., according to the CDC.9 A 2015 small, randomized control trial looked at the impact of low-calorie cranberry juice on heart disease risk factors. Thirty women and 26 men consumed either 240 mL (one cup or eight ounces) of low-calorie cranberry juice or a placebo with a matching flavor, color, and calorie level twice per day for eight weeks. The placebo contained varying amounts of phenolic antioxidants and sugar.

  • May Support Immune Function: In addition to its antibacterial properties, cranberry juice may help bolster the immune system. In one randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, subjects drank 450 mL (about two cups) of a low calorie cranberry beverage made with juice-derived powdered cranberry or a placebo daily. After 10 weeks, researchers found that levels of immune cells that serve as a first line of defense against colds and flus were five times higher in cranberry juice drinkers.

Walking on the Beach - 5 Benefits

  • It's twice as much exercise as a traditional walk - It’s not just the sun that’s making you sweat. Studies show that walking on sand increases how much energy you use. Since sand provides natural (and often challenging) resistance, walking on the beach will require more effort than walking on flat terrain.

  • It boosts strength and endurance - A stroll on the sand requires a different kind of effort compared to walking on a hard surface like a pavement or a treadmill.

  • It's great for improving balance - Walking on the uneven surface of sand challenges your stability, therefore supporting better posture and improving your overall gait (aka your stride, or how you walk).

  • It increases vitamin D - You’ve probably heard by now that being in the sun is a natural way to increase your vitamin D stores, and this commonly given advice is true. Vitamin D is essential for building healthy bones and maintaining a healthy immune system to fight off illness.

  • It's an excellent activity for lowering stress: Being in nature has been found to decrease stress and improve mental health (even 10 to 15 minutes outside in a natural setting can do wonders). And studies show that blue spaces like oceans and beach views, specifically, have a restoring effect on the body, subsequently reducing stress and anxiety.

4 Morning Drinks For Glowing And Healthy Skin

  • Honey And Lemon Water: Add two to three spoons of honey and a spoon of lemon juice to water as this acts as an electrolyte and produces antioxidants and anti-aging components. It helps in cleaning out harmful toxins from your body and also helps in weight loss.

  • Fruit Juices: Fruits are rich in vitamins and micronutrients. Fruits like carrots, beetroots, pomegranate and even vegetables like sweet potato have rich minerals and vitamins that help in preventing acne and boost healthy skin.

  • Green Tea: If you are a tea lover, add green tea or lemon tea to your diet. It prevents acne and contains vitamin C along with other nutrients that keep skin naturally healthy and glowing.

  • Turmeric Milk: Turmeric is a traditional and Ayurvedic medicine that acts as an antibiotic and antiviral agent. It is rich in antioxidants that retard the aging process. Adding one spoonful of turmeric to milk or hot water every morning can give good results for healthy skin.

4 Best Calf Exercises for Stronger, More Flexible Calves

  • Calf raise: This can be done on a step in the gym, or anything step-like that you have in your home.

  • Ankle plantarflexion: This is another great stretch that can help prevent injury.

  • Bent knee calf raises: This workout can help strengthen the muscles around the knees, calves and ankles, which are crucial for injury prevention.

  • Jumping rope: Jumping rope is a great cardio workout, but it can be great for toning and strengthening your calves, too.
